Getting ready for a vacation, I ordered the kindle version of The Perils of Cyber-Dating so I could read it on the plane. I was pleasantly surprised to find it an entertaining and enjoyable book. The Perils of Cyber-Dating reads like a novel, but was a real-life account of the dating life in Los Angeles in today’s world. The rules have certainly changed over the years. The book's a page turner and I highly recommend it to single women and men, regardless of their zip code.Product details

I read Ms. Spira's book and really enjoyed it. And believe me, although I am an avid reader I am not a "self-help reader kind of guy (not that I couldn't benefit from such things)." I picked it up because I thought it was going to be a "good yarn", a series of tidbits, vignettes and advice that would be fun. And it was fun, but it was different than what I expected. I thought it was going to have more of a "pollyanna" tone about it but, no - she "put it all out there", the good news and the bad news about internet dating, I must say. It is also somewhat of a commentary about adult dating, in general, "these days". I applaud her optimism, I must say. Through it all she was having fun, albeit punctuated with things that were not easy - misrepresentation, for example, by others. I hope she continue to have success with this book, her next book, life, love, and in selecting (continuing to select!) cute little dresses! I bet if you read this book you'll pass it along to someone who you think will enjoy it. I'm still smiling about the book as I type this. Lee

The books reads like a very interesting conversation with Julie. You learn about her failed dates (the man who talked about his colonoscopy) and those who swept her off her feet. You also learn about the perils of having your personal information available to anyone who wants to find out about your past.
It is no wonder Julie makes regular appearances on online dating on Network and Local TV and Radio stations, as well as You Tube!
It's simply the best book written so far about online dating.
Julie Spira is one of the most charismatic, sassy and smart women I know. I'm a big fan of her website and recently bought her book to read on my . Her voice is so honest and her anecdotes are both funny and cringe-worthy, a perfect combination for a book about dating. I highly recommend this book for all of my single friends.
This book is a memoir covering fifteen years of dating, four engagements, and two marriages. The end leaves us in suspense, for Spira is again going online with romantic expectations. I counted 25 dates that resulted from online contacts. Many of the stories are funny; many of them are dreadful experiences, but we laugh anyway.
Spira seems to believe she has learned valuable lessons from these experiences. I hope so, but this book offers little in terms of practical advice and a lot of pure entertainment as we follow in her footsteps. For practical guidance, try other books. You will like Julie Spira and sympathize with her sometimes horrendous luck as you follow her through fifteen years of online perils.

Great read and I had trouble putting the book down! It felt like I gained realistic information on the word of cyber-dating. Julie really tells it like it is - both the good and the bad, the love and the heartbreak. Her tips on what to look out for were honest and while I didn't agree with 100% of what she said it was wonderful to get a new perspective from an expert in the field. Highly recommended!
Julie really has written a wonderful book on the world of cyber-dating!! Out of all the media experts out there she really gets it!! Her experiences really hit home with me... the good, the bad and the ugly!! On-line dating can feel a bit scary for some of us and she made me much more comfortable to give it a try. Without her insights, I doubt I would of given online dating a try. Her voice in the book makes it feel she is sitting right next to you and counseling you. This world of cyber-dating is moving fast and there is so much people need to know and want to know before they hit the internet superhighway of dating.
